SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Are you looking for a place to live? Do you like weird stuff? Do you feel like it’s time to get a bunker?

Well, then maybe you could be the person who finally is able to call an old Nebraska missile silo home. It’s for sale by YouTuber Andrew Flair of “Fishing with Flair”.

According to Realtor.com, the 1,256 sq. ft. former silo had been on the market for just over 70 days as of Saturday. Flair bought it for $550,000 last year and is selling it for $750,000 after renovating it.

When it was first listed last year, the home became the most popular one on the website.

“Andrew Flair bought it as a doomsday bunker,” said listing agent Mike Figueroa, of Re/Max Concepts, who shares the listing with his wife, Polly. “He did extensive work to the property. All of the electric has been redone. He built a beautiful kitchen and a three-quarter bathroom and installed vinyl-plank flooring.”

It also has electricity, hot and cold running water, a working septic system with a lift station, a water purification system, and a full kitchen. There is one bedroom, and the home is located on a 6.19-acre lot in York, Neb.

The silo was first built in 1962 as an Atlas-F missile complex and it is described as “a piece of cold-war military history,” by Figueroa. He said that cold war silos like this one were created to withstand nuclear attacks. They were decommissioned by 1965 and that just 72 of them exist in the U.S. today, with 12 in Nebraska.

Crews once lived in the silo’s first-floor launch control center. Underneath is an unfinished lower level with an additional 1,250 sq.ft.

“Add a StarLink system (or similar) for communication, gaming and entertainment and you’ll have all the conveniences of home,” Figueroa said.
